Daily Delights-

Have you ever noticed the sun shining through a hole in dark clouds? It seems like a message from Heaven that lights up my soul. Newly washed flannel sheets we pre-heat with an electric mattress cover- what a delightful feeling on a cold winter night! My husband and I are obsessed with Moo Deng, a baby pygmy hippo from Thailand. Look her up and I dare you not to smile. And of course, the look in my dog’s eyes when I am about to feed her a treat melts my heart. These are some of my recent experiences that bring me delight.

“Delights” are small moments when we experience a sense of awe or spark which cues our nervous system to feel safe, calm or joyful. These experiences may lead to feelings of being grounded, fully at peace, and comfortable inside our body. At other times, we feel lighter, brighter, or more hopeful.

Delightful!

There are so many benefits of looking for and noticing delights. They are all around us, but you miss them if you’re not on the lookout for them or can’t recognize them. You know the common analogy- when you buy a red Toyota, all you see on the road are more red Toyotas. As we notice these joyful moments, we tend to look for more of them. This time of year can be full of daily delights or moments of stress- what you seek, you will find. Consider noticing these precious moments to fill your soul.

They come in, they find a landing spot, and they begin to accumulate. And we begin to have a sense that other things are possible, that maybe the world isn’t such a dark place.

I would love to hear about some of your delights. Sharing those moments of awe is another way to share examples of tangible hope.

Be Delighted,

-Trish
